The Royal Pug Comedy Club!
8pm. 18+ Thursday 25th September 2025
Our fantastically funny and super splendid comedy club returns for another season in the intimate surrounding of the upstairs at The Royal Pug.
Kicking off this Autumns shenanigans are comedy circuit regulars Mark Cram, David Arnold and Mike Cox!
Do note line-up is subject to change
Mike Cox has been performing comedy since 2011 and quickly made his mark on the comedy scene with his sharp witted observational style which saw him crowned South Coast Comedian of the Year in 2014 and the Not So New Comedian of the Year in 2022.
He can be seen at comedy clubs up and down the UK.
"Like an Everyman, if that Everyman had delicious cynicism and razor sharp wit." - Romesh Ranganathan
"If Rob Beckett is the new Micky Flanagan then Cox could be the new Rob Beckett" - Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard
Mark Cram
Mark is quite the all-rounder; with both a killer set and strong MCing chops. For the last few years Mark has been plying his comedy trade across the UK. Constantly evolving, usually unpredictable; he is garnering positive reactions everywhere he goes.
Mark thrills crowds with his tales of dead-end jobs, his family and being the less than grateful winner of Bedford Comedian of the Year.
“A Masterclass in comedy design” Newbury Weekly News
David Arnold
David Arnold has been a firm favourite of audience goers in the Westcountry and beyond, with a smiley, excitable delivery style that has everyone in stitches. In his ten years on the circuit he has shared the stage with some of the biggest names, performed at world-renowned festivals and even starred in a summer season in Torquay! 2020 was a breakout year - he appeared in a Channel 5 documentary, reached the final of the prestigious Beat the Frog in Manchester, performed at the London Palladium and was crowned winner of the British Comedian of the Year for the South West Region.
The Royal Pug Comedy Club!
8pm. 18+ Thursday 23rd October 2025
Yet again we continue to bring you the best of the best from the UK comedy circuit in the very intimate setting of upstairs at The Royal Pug – this gig sells out every time so come and see what all the fuss is about.
This month’s comedy crackers are Jason Neale, Samantha Day and Peter Brush!
Do note line-up is subject to change
Peter Brush
A highly distinctive performer and deft writer of finely crafted jokes, Peter Brush unassumingly takes the stage with his slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, before consummately conquering it with an arsenal of razor sharp quirky one-liners and peerlessly original routines, all delivered in an amusingly awkward fashion.
Formerly a BBC New Comedy Award finalist, and winner of Harrogate Comedian of the Year, Peter performs at clubs all over the UK and occasionally abroad. He has also written for BBC Radio 4’s ‘The News Quiz’, ‘The Show What You Wrote’ and ‘Newsjack’ and was the tour support for Alexei Sayle’s 2020 show, other acts he has supported on tour include Jonathan Pie, Jason Manford, Arthur Smith and Paul Sinha.
★★★★½
”Compellingly hilarious.. first-class gag writing… an original and achingly funny voice” Chortle
”I love Peter Brush, what a comic” Jason Manford
Samantha Day
Samantha has six children. Three of them are stepchildren, which means that they have been brought up properly, by someone else, and are therefore nice. But her three are a lot better at shoplifting.
She is 53, but looks younger because she's had a lot of work done. Some people have said that that makes her a bad feminist. They don't know the half of it.
She is an alcoholic and hasn’t had a drink for 17 years. And that's ok - she doesn't need to drink in order to socialise or dance. Happily, she doesn’t even need to drink to wet herself.
For nearly thirty years, Samantha was an accountant. She gave it up when, despite her best efforts, she only managed to sleep her way to the middle.
“The real deal, a fresh voice tempered by a life full of square peg experience” - Nick Page, English Comedian of the Year
Jason Neale
Hailing from Leicestershire, Jason Neale is as adept at MC-ing for wide range of venues and audiences as he is delivering tight, punchy and hilarious 20 minute sets.
Since starting Stand-Up he has gone from strength-to-strength as a performer, gigging throughout the UK and adding improv/Sketch-Writing/Character strings to his comedy bow.
A night filled with bangers and hits from Alex Harry
The Royal Pug Comedy Club!
8pm. 18+ Thursday 27th November 2025
Our comedy club is back with a BANG this back November and we continue to bring you the best of the best from the UK comedy circuit in the very intimate setting of the Royal Pug.
This month’s comedy crackers are Kare McCabe, Joseph Emslie and Joey Page!
Do note line-up is subject to change
Joey Page has been hailed as the future of stand up and is storming the circuit with his trail blazing brand of ‘Indie Comedy’ that’s surreal and inventive. Joey’s enigmatic and charming presence brings about an instant rapport with his audiences. Every now and again you see a comedian like this who’s so wonderfully gifted he makes it all look effortless. The style and subject matter of his material is unlike that of any other out there, making him one of the most unique and memorable acts you will see. He’s also favourite of Noel Fielding (from The Mighty Boosh and Great British Bake Off) and as a result has supported him on tour
“Really Good, Proper Funny” Ronnie Wood
“Surreal, charming and hilarious, one of comedy’s most unique and exciting new talents. This innately likeable young man has an instinct for funny” Chortle
“A stylish comedian with a sonic imagination and a twinkle in his eye” Noel Fielding
Kate McCabe is an American comic who lives in the UK and gigs all over the country.
You can also catch her with ComedySportz Manchester and Murder Inc Improv.
When she is not working professionally as a comic, she also lends her voice to audio books and video games. You may have even been killed by her flamethrower-wielding baddie in Tom Clancy’s THE DIVISION 2.
‘Just a goddam delight’ Manchester Wire
‘Delivers strong material with aplomb’ Three Weeks
Joseph Emslie
His easy conversational manner, anecdotal, and self-deprecating, style of comedy has helped him secure him some early critical acclaim by taking the runner up place in the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year 2021, twinning this with his other final successes he really is “definitely a name to keep tabs on.” (Bruce Dessau, Beyond The Joke)
“Radiating comic innocence and making great play on his schoolboy looks” Chortle

“Superb…Very Funny” Russell Howard
“Unpretentious and terrific” The Wee Review
Adam Beardsmore is a class comedy act from Staffordshire who had performed all over the country in some of its best clubs and dingiest pubs giving a disgruntled view of his life and answering the questions no one asked.
Through one of the most egotistical art forms, Adam will tell you about the world through his eyes, why we are all the centre of our own universes, the best ways to look out for number one and how being self-centred doesn’t necessarily mean you are your own biggest fan.
‘One of our favourite new acts of the Festival’ Leicester Comedy Festival
‘Genuinely funny, innovative and disarming’ Nick Page, English Comedian of The Year
Jack Campbell began performing stand-up whilst at De Montfort University, Leicester in 2010 and has been performing regularly since and has performed across Europe in Germany, Estonia, Finland and Latvia as well as further afield in Australia.
